Spring/Summer 2017 Fabric Preview

The snow is melting, which means it’s that time of year, gentlemen.

The boys and I spent the winter scouring the globe, in search of the world’s finest menswear fabrics. Our focus this season was lightweight breathable fabrics with unique textures, tasteful colors, and – most notably – performance qualities (like natural stretch, moisture wicking, wrinkle resistance, etc). This is not an easy combination to find, but the hunt was long, and we eventually discovered some incredible innovation coming from some legendary fabric mills.

Here are some of our favorite fabrics for S/S ’17, most of which are available in several colors in our shop. As you may already know; all AoS fabrics are limited in quantity, and some of these have already begun to sell quickly…

Triple-Blend Hopsack

Our Triple-Blend Hopsack is a luxurious blend of linen (50%), virgin wool (46%) and silk (4%) woven in Italy into an oversized hopsack fabric. This unique lightweight texture provides excellent performance in terms of breathability, comfort and wrinkle resistance, along with unmatched versatility and elegance. With this cloth you’re getting the airiness of linen, the durability of wool and the sophisticated sheen of silk, all in a garment that can be dressed-up or dressed-down and serve as the foundation of your Spring/Summer wardrobe.

Dyed Seersucker

Our Dyed Seersucker is a 100% pure cotton fabric woven in Biella, Italy by the lightweight fabric experts at Ormezzano. This unique Spring/Summer cloth has all of the beautiful ribbing and puckering texture that you can only acheive with real seersucker, but without the preppy white base. Consider this the younger, cooler, edgier cousin of traditional seersucker – one that doesn’t need a derby or a lawn party to steal the show.

Tropical Wool & Linen

Our Wool & Linen fabric is a blend of tropical wool (75%) and linen (25%) woven in Biella, Italy by the lightweight textile experts at Ormezzano. This game-changing blend gives you the durability, versatility and performance of wool, with the breathability, texture and natural elegance of linen. It won’t wrinkle as much as a pure linen, of course, but it does retain some of that non-chalant charm to help bring your Spring/Summer wardrobe to a new level.

Performance Hopsack

Our Performance Hopsack represents the best of modern innovation within the age-old textile industry. This basket-woven fabric is made with certified organic “Super 140’s” tropical wool that is designed for function, comfort and travel. Incredibly, this line of fabrics is natural stretch, stain-resistant, waterproof (yes, waterproof), crease resistant (it doesn’t wrinkle at all) and realized with eco-friendly wool. We’ve scoured the earth for sustainable fabrics with “natural performance” qualities, and it truly doesn’t get any better than this.

Pure Linen

Our Pure Linen is a luxurious all-natural fabric woven in Biella, Italy by the lightweight fabric experts at Ormezzano. This fabric is the cream of the crop in terms of breathability and casual non-chalance. It’s the perfect choice for a summer event like a wedding or a tropical vacation, or just to add some gentlemanly charm to your long-term Spring/Summer wardrobe.

4-Season Gaberdine

Our Wool Gaberdine fabric is a pure 100% worsted wool woven in Italy. The beauty of this gaberdine twill is not only its durability and drape, but also its ability to retain beautifully rich colors, like this saturated tobacco. This is a true 4-season fabric that looks fantastic in the Spring/Summer months due to it’s bold color and subtle sheen.
